After graduation at Poznan University of Medical Sciences in 1988, Jacek Zachwieja completed a 1-year clinical research fellowship at the Paediatric Nephrology Division at Utrecht University (The Netherlands, prof. R.A.M.G Donckerwolcke) and 6-month clinical research fellowship at the Paediatric Nephrology Division at Hannover University (Germany, prof. Johannes Brodehl), followed by paediatric training and paediatric nephrology subspecialty fellowships at Poznan University of Medical Sciences.
In 2002 Dr. Zachwieja became consultant and associate professor in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. In 2007, he was granted full professorship and became head of the Paediatric Nephrology division and the paediatric ESRD program at Poznan University of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Zachwieja is a current member of the European Society for Paediatric Nephrology, European Dialysis and Transplant Association, Polish Society for Paediatric Nephrology and International Society for Nephrology. Dr. Zachwieja has published 89 original articles, 5 review articles and 10 book chapters. He presented more than 180 papers on international medical meetings.
